In Mexico, we got the chance to see Julio Iglesias live. With white teeth and a wrinkles, he put on an awsome show for the locals. Check it out:

Beauty and the beast

Based on pictures on the Internet we expected Trinidad to play the part as the beast while Trinidad would be the beauty. After all, Trinidad is known for it´s industry. Tobago, on the other hand, is known for it´s many beautiful beaches. We couldn´t have been more wrong.

After three days in Trinidad we can assure you that the island is beautiful.

Port of Spain is a busy city with cars driving in all directions. Add to the fact that some people drink and drive, there are no crossings, and mobiles are as frequently used as car horns, oh yes, the traffic is chaotic.

A block or two away the scenery is totally different. It´s peaceful. The ocean, green hills, and palm trees bring out the beauty in the island.

The people of Trinidad, at least those we met, are warm and welcoming. Thanks to them we didn´t spend time counting mosquitoes at the guesthouse.

We had hardly got time to get used to the fresh trinidadian air before we found ourselves drinking beer and eating hot rotis on the busiest sidewalk in the city that never sleeps, St. James. Paul & Wendy and Sharia & Curtis showed us how to lime (hang out) like trinidadians do.

With the carnival coming up, they also took us to some local costume factories and pan yards where the bands practiced. It was awesome, and quite crazy to experience over hundred people drumming on the steel drums. Maybe especially fun for Daniel, who got “raped” by an older woman. But as the gentleman he is, he let her do her intimate and erotic moves without a protest.

Nikia gave us a tour to the west, the city centre and maybe the best part; Fort George. From there we had a panorama view over Port of Spain. Thanks to PJ we also got some shoots of the city by night, as an ending to a 10 hours long tour to the south coast.

It was raining heavily in the swamps, so instead of photographing wild animals we were occupied holding a plastic roof over our heads to keep dry. Snakes hanging down from the trees made the boat ride quite wild.

We spent our last evening at Lillians (she is in her 50´s but looks like she could have been 34). She and Ivor cocked enough food to feed the norwegian army. It was the perfect ending to a lovely stay in Trinidad.

Thanks for everything, Lillian!

Now, we have done the english speaking countries. The next month we are gonna do Mexico, where we will learn spanish. Or at least try to learn some spanish.

Hasta luego! ( We`ve been told that “hasta la vista” is “muy harry”. So we tried another one instead:p )

Mucho problemos...

Stay tuned!

Hello people! We have now arrived in Mexico - without luggage. Hopefully we´ll get it tonight or tomorrow, but so far the flight company hasn´t got a clue where the luggage is. Because of this the update from T & T is delayed. But don´t worry, we will tell you all about the stay in a day or two.

My country

- Why on earth have you come to Guyana, the locals ask us with a shocking look.

The answer is always the same. My granddad was from Georgetown, so I’m here to check up my roots.

Mission almost completed. I tried to call the two Pinheiro's in the phone book. And I visited a Michelle Ming. Sadly I didn't find any relatives. But at least I got to see the town where my granddad grew up.

Georgetown has a bad reputation for crime. The local papers weren’t a joy to read. A few days ago a man got shot over 1000 guyanese dollars, which is about 33 norwegian kroner or 3 pounds.

So the first day we hardly dared to go out. When we first did, we always came back before the sun went down and followed our own safety rules. Let’s put it like this: Lisa hasn’t many parts of her body left that hasn’t been used as a secret wallet.

Georgetown is very unlike society in England and Norway. Some people are wealthy but most people are relatively poor. Others are worse off. They live in the slums or on the street, where garbage is lying around. Some of the houses we wouldn’t even use as playing cottage in our garden.

But in so many ways Guyana is a wonderful country. Green and wild, with many, many waters. The people are friendly and are always looking to help.

June (photo with Daniel) and Yvonne (with Lisa) have been great to us. Thanks to them we have experienced a lot.

Nellie Singh is another helpful lady. She runs the Rima Guesthouse with her family, a place we highly recommend. Okey, the water in the shower is freezing cold, but the food is first class. By the way, so is the guesthouse!!

Unfortunately we haven’t got enough pictures to document this lovely country, since you would have to be crazy to walk in the streets with your camera on you. The only way to get some decent pictures in Georgetown is to take them from the taxi window. Well, we have done our best:

St. George's Cathedral - the tallest wooden cathedral in the world.

The browner part of the Atlantic Ocean isn't that tempting to have a swim in.

Stabroek Market - always full of life, reggae music and people yelling ''shopping, baby?''

People ask us why we come to Guyana. After experiencing the country, we now say ''Why not?’’

NYHET: Daniel hoevlet over

- Kjipe greier. Jeg som hadde saa lyst paa Anderson-sveisen,
depper Daniel.

Powerful and wonderful

That is how we would describe Kaieteur Falls after seeing the gigantic waterfall in action. According to our tour guide, thousands of tourists come to see the Kaieteur Falls every year. No wonder why.

It has the highest single drop in the world - 226 meters. The color of the water, combined with the magnificent rainforest surrounding the fall, makes it an unbelievable sight.

Anyway, you can’t walk to the Kaieteur Falls, a mini airplane is the way to get there. Ten tourists were stuffed on board, so you can bet your life that it was very hot. There wasn’t a lot of space for our legs either. Luckily the flight from the local airport outside Georgetown to Kaieteur National Park wasn’t a pain because of the scenery from the sky.

The country is greener than anything we’ve ever seen. And there are so many trees you wouldn’t believe it, only split up by the water running in various patterns in between them. What a sight that was too!

Quite as breath
taking wasn’t the Orinduik Falls, which separates Guyana from Brazil. But it was a little pretty thing. Lisa didn’t hesitate when given the opportunity to have a little swim in the middle of nowhere. She enjoyed the Guyanese water.

After spending a whole day in the sun – for the first time during our trip – our faces have become slightly pinkish. Hopefully it will turn out to a decent tan over the next few days.

More updates from our lovely stay in Guyana is coming up. In the meantime you can share our Kaieteur-journey with us. Fasten your seatbelts!

- Gaa oss ville i Central park.

The Lion King hadde absolutt alt - terningkast 6!

- Gatevandring Manhattan paa kryss og tvers. I fleirfaldige minusgrader.

Ok, her juksa vi litt i rekkefoelga.

- Friheitsgudinna i eigen person.

Sjaa meir under, visst ogsaa dokke vil ha ein liten smakebit:)

Chrysler Building sett fraa Empire State Building.

Windowshopping paa 5th Avenue.

New York Stock Exchange.

Ground Zero - No arbeidast det for fullt med aa heve the Freedom Tower.

American pancakes med sirup til frukost - We like!

Fjuh. No staar ein langt roligare kvardag i Guyana paa tapeten. Until then!:)

Point of no return

This is it, folks. And it's no turning back. We're off to New York - the first stop on our fantastic trip around America - in about eight hours.

We've planned this journey for six months or so. Now is the real deal. Are we looking forward to it? You can put your money on that for sure. Especially after Manchester United hammered CSKA Chelskji Moskva.

Over the last couple of days we've come in contact with three helpful, beautiful ladies inn Guyana and Trinidad & Tobago. They are going to show us their cities while we are there. We appreciate it alot.

11 countries, 15 weeks - lovely:) We'll do our very best to update the blog as we travel.

Shit - no skjer det.
